1967 North High Reunion Itinerary

The Wichita High School North Class of 1967 Reunion in 2007 will be held Friday and Saturday September 28th and 29th, 2007. It will feature two dinner parties, one BBQ casual and one more formal, culminating in a dinner and dance with background music from 1964-1967 at the Hotel at Old Town's Conference Center just east of the hotel [See Old Town Map, below]. A free meeting in Minisa Park on Saturday starting at 10:00 AM featuring a T-shirt table and a 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM performance to be given by Craig Twister Steward memorializing our In Memoriam dead will be followed by a tour of North High at 12:45 PM. At that time a picture will be taken at North's south side Auditorium Entrance. The Minisa Park pavilion will be open from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM Saturday for the free memorial show and T-shirt pickup, when classic vintage cars from the '60s will be on display in the North High southwest parking lot. We will be parking around Minisa Park and elsewhere. Registration for the event will be $50 per person plus $10 per T-shirt, with the money to be sent in advance to 1967 North High Reunion 2007, c/o Sherry Goodwin Hilger, 19121 West 29th Street North, Colwich, KS 67030, telephone (316) 796-0383 (call after 11:00 AM). T-shirts will be available in small, medium, large, X-large, XX-large, and XXX-large sizes. The on-line registration form is on the party home page.

Friday Night's Activities
The Friday BBQ casual get-together banquet will be open from 5:30 PM to 12:00 PM at 2920 S. 127th East, Wichita, Kansas at Nancy Liles Bauck's home [satellite photo] (telephone (316) 733-0504) with dinner starting at 6:30 PM, ending at 12:00 PM. Bring your own beer or alcohol and folding chairs, and perhaps some extra chairs. Catering will be provided by Hog Wild Bar-B-Q. The meal will consist of: beef brisket and stretched chicken sandwiches, baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, and tea and lemonade (with ice and cups provided by Hog Wild.) The party planning committee is providing ice for those wanting ice before the caterer arrives, cups, canned pop, chips, and dessert. T-shirts will be distributed Friday night and again starting at 10:00 AM Saturday at the pavilion in Minisa Park, ending at 2:00 PM. T-shirts will be red with the same kind of white logo used at the 10th class reunion. A souvenir DVD video [YouTube Sample] of previous North High reunion material from Park Villa and Cow Town in 1977 plus a slide show of additional pictures will be available for ten dollars or less based on prior VHS video recordings. A copy of the video will be running continuously during the evening. A juke box will be available for people to play '60s and '70s music. Business cards with 1967 class photo images and a graphic of North High will be distributed for ID purposes, and stick-on name tags will be provided. Professional catering is planned. Four bathrooms will be available for use in the Bauck residence. A handicap portable restroom will be made available.

Saturday Morning & Afternoon Activities - No Charge
On Saturday we will gather at Minisa Park [satellite photo] on the West Side of the Little Arkansas River at 10:00 AM, where we will have a T-shirt table. Classic vintage cars from the '60s will be on display in the North High southwest parking lot from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. We will park around Minisa Park and elsewhere. Craig Twister Steward will give a performance from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Minisa Park memorializing our In Memoriam dead. An 11:45 AM tour of Wichita High School North will be held Saturday by NHS cheerleaders who will guide us through North High after crossing the Minisa Park Bridge. This will be after the 10:00 AM meeting at Minisa Park with the Craig Steward In Memorian performance. A group picture will be taken at 12:45 PM at North's south side Auditorium Entrance by Lifetouch, which will sell them for $10.00 each. Lifetouch will take orders there and deliver them to the Hotel at Old Town to be distributed that evening. The Minisa park pavilion will remain open until 2:00 PM. Minisa Park facilities will be available, but no refreshments are planned.

Vintage Car Show
Saturday September 29th, 2007 At North High [satellite photo], when we gather for the music, school tour and photo. The car show is something that we thought might enhance this event. Only members of our class are invited to bring any automobile that might fit the objective: Classic; custom; your old school car; your folk's Nash Rambler; your old Honda Scrambler (Yeah, get out the old bike too). We'd like some advance notice if you want to bring something, so final arrangements can be made. You are also encouraged to drive that vehicle to the Friday evening event at Nancy (Liles) Bauck's residence.

Saturday Night Activities
The more formal Grand Class of 1967 Reunion Dinner and Dance will be held from 7:00 PM to 12:00 PM at the Hotel at Old Town at 830 East First, Wichita, KS 67202 [satellite photo] (316) 267-4800. We will meet in the Hotel at Old Town Conference Center just east of the hotel. [See Old Town Map, below]. There will be a special buffet of mixed greens, fruit salad, a choice of two entrees (Marinated Chicken with herb butter or sliced Roast Beef with mushroom Madeira), roasted new potatoes and a choice of Strawberry Chantilly cake or Chocolate Hazelnut cake. Hurricane lamps with wrap-around artwork of the North High tower by Judy David Stanley will be provided for the banquet tables. There is a deck available for people to utilize, but people cannot smoke or eat on the deck. The cash bar will be open with a bartender from 6:30 PM to 11:30 PM. Dancing will continue until midnight. Catering will be provided by the Hotel at Old Town under the direction of Cindy Cook. DJ Mark McLean will play music from the 1964-1967 period from 6:30 PM until Midnight. A background North High Party video will play continuously throughout the evening. The River City Trolley will be available for class members to cruise Old Town from 8:00 PM until 10:00 PM. It holds 30 people and we set the route.

A Group Rooms Contract has been negotiated for 10 Queen Studios ($119.00) and One Bedroom ($325.00). The Queen Studio reservations include breakfast for one in the Hotel Atrium and the One Bedroom accommodation includes breakfast for two in the Hotel Atrium. Additional room quests may be accommodated for $10.00 per person for breakfast.

Itinerary Notes
subsequent to the 9th meeting of the Party Planning Administration on Aug. 16, 2007, revised Aug. 18.

1. The party may start up at 5:30 PM at the Bauck's Ranch or 6:00 PM on Friday, September 28, 2007, with dinner to commence at 6:30 PM. The food will be laid out buffet style. The meal will consist of beef brisket and stretched chicken sandwiches, baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, and tea & lemonade. Bring your own alcohol, bring your own chairs, bring extra chairs. Desert, ice, canned pop, and cups will be made available. Catering will be provided by Hog Wild Bar-B-Q. The video DVD [YouTube Sample] of past class reunion material (3) will be running continuously in the background.
2. Pick up T-shirt on Saturday the next day in Minisa Park.
3. The DVD video will be made available with material from the 1977 class reunion at Park Villa and Cow Town as a collector's item for ten dollars. A slide show offering from pictures of past reunions, will also be offered on the CD or DVD. Johnna Castor Burnell will be providing the edited material for the DVD or CD. Gerald Stump was originally to process the old VHS videos to produce edited material for this DVD or CD, which will be available from Johnna Castor Burnell with a color label and illustrated sleeve. We have about 25 minutes of video from the 1977 class reunion.
4. We will spend $85 on a handicap portable restroom for the Friday night party. Four bathrooms are available for use in the house.
5. A group picture will be taken by photographers after the casual Friday evening dinner after the meal. We may arrange for digital prints on-site of the group photo. The North High photos to be taken in the gymnasium and in the tower will be taken by Lifetouch photographers and sold for $10.00. These photos will be delivered at the Saturday night banquet.
6. T-shirts will be sold. $10 will be the T-shirt price. The T-shirt will be red with a white logo, as shown below in section (20). The size and number of T-shirts specified by a registrant will be entered in the registration form on the party home page. Sizes will include small, medium, large, X-large, XX-large, and XXX-large. The T-shirt logo is the same type used at the 10-year class reunion, but has been redrawn. Jarold Stone is contracting for the T-shirts, and Sherry Goodwin Hilger is collecting the T-shirt fees, in addition to the other $50.00 dinner fees.
7. There will be meals on both Friday (casual) and Saturday (formal dinner and dance) nights.
8. The Saturday night meal at the Hotel at Old Town will be $24.95/attendee, which is included in the $50.00 ticket price.
9. We have some funds from the previous reunion in an account associated with a Certificate of Deposit.
10. Saturday September 29, 2007, we will get together at Minisa Park at 10:00 AM. Park cost for our party will be $105.00. There will be a T-shirt table, and perhaps a Mini-Pep Rally with cheerleaders and pep band. Craig Twister Stewart will perform a memorial musical piece for our In Memoriam dead between 10:30 AM and 11:30 AM. There will be no free refreshments for this free event, however. A tour of North High will start at 12:45 PM. A group photo will be taken at the North High gymnasium at 1:30 PM by Lifetouch. The Minisa Park pavilion will be open until 2:00 PM.
11. There will be a tour of North High at 12.25 PM after our get-together at Minisa Park starting at 10:00 AM on the West side of the Little Arkansas River to pick up T-shirts and enjoy Craig Twister Steward's memorial music, and the pavilion will be open until 2:00 PM.
12. Saturday Evening September 29th Dinner and Dance at the Hotel at Old Town. There will be a special buffet of mixed greens, fruit salad, a choice of two entrees (Marinated Chicken with herb butter or sliced Roast Beef with mushroom Madeira), roasted new potatoes and a choice of Strawberry Chantilly cake or Chocolate Hazelnut cake. Drinking will be supported at the cash bar from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM. Coffee and tea will be available. Judy David Stanley will provide Hurricane Lamps with exterior wrap-around artwork of the North High Towers. The DJ for the party will be Mark McLean. Mark will play music from the period 1964-1967 and play from 8:00 PM to Midnight. We have to be out by 1:00 AM, and the dance is scheduled to stop at 12:00 PM. There are set-up and tear-down charges. Louise and Don Kabler negotiated the DJ contract with Disk Jockey Mark McLean. We are going to have the River City Trolly running outside the Hotel at Old Town that seats 30 people. It will run its Old Town Tour from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM, taking perhaps 20 minutes per spin. We set the tour agenda.
13. Anita Cummins Wiley has done the mailing of invitations from her data base, which she is updating with help from Richard York. This is updated from the on-line journal of registration and pre-registration information prepared from email sent by the Party's Home Page registration form to Jim Green's email at jim_green_himself@yahoo.com. A screened registration file name may be used later on, if appropriate, to privatize communication of raw registrant data.
14. A Group Rooms Contract has been negotiated by Chris Frederick with Amy Grossman of Old Town Hotel for 10 Queen Studios ($119.00) and One Bedroom ($325.00). The Queen Studio reservations include breakfast for one in the Hotel Atrium and the One Bedroom accommodation includes breakfast for two in the Hotel Atrium. Additional room quests may be accommodated for $10.00 per person for breakfast. The party restriction limit is 300 people.
Chris prepared a preliminary analysis table and paper handouts of costs and requirements for alternative sites including Botanica, Old Town Hotel, Boat House, Cow Town, and Eberly Farms. The group settled on the Hotel at Old Town at the 2nd meeting. He has prepared many well-organized handouts for our party planning sessions.
A Banquet Deposit Contract was negotiated by Chris Frederick with the Hotel at Old Town. See also Cindi Cook, Catering Manager, Latour at Old Town for the tour management.
15. Stick-on name tags have been prepared by the Wichita Public Schools Print Shop. About 125-150 registrations are anticipated, with perhaps 50 singles.
16. Class President Kathy Frederick Wilson distributed extensive notes for the 9th meeting of the party planning administration committee on August 16, 2007 at Nancy Liles Bauck's home, where the Friday part of the reunion festival itself will be held. These notes were used to update the party web pages online. Earlier, we received email minutes of the 8th meeting from Kathy on 07/06/07 (given on the Party Administration web page) similar to the ones we received after the 2nd group meeting in September and after the 3rd 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th group meetings. The 7th meeting was held March 15, 2007 at the Hotel in Old Town, starting with a meeting in the lobby and continuing in a meeting room. The 8th meeting was held at Kathy Frederick Wilson's house at 1403 Columbia Terrace, Wichita, KS. 67204 on Tuesday May 15, 2007 at 7:00 PM, and the 9th meeting will be held at Nancy Bauck's at 2920 S. 127th East, Wichita, Kansas (telephone [316] 733-0504) on August 16, 2007 at 7:00 PM.
17. Post cards have been sent out to every class member we can reach by Anita Cummins Wiley including information such as web site address, cost of activities, places and times of activities, registration information, T-shirt information, and rental cost information for a room in the Hotel at Old Town. Some mail was returned as of June 2007, and we are attempting to get the correct addresses for returned mail so that it can be resent. Richard York has been maintaining an updated list of the 1967 class with registrant information included as it comes in or as he finds it out.
18. Costs for the post cards, Friday night catering, Friday night pop, Handicap Port-A-Pot, name tags with 1967 classmate class picture, trolley, cheerleaders for the North High tour, the Minisa Park Pavilion, Hotel bartender, decorations, and dance DJ have been itemized and analyzed, along with speculative marginal profits based on possible numbers of attendees. Any surplus monies will inhabit our party bank account managed by Secretary-Treasurer Sherry Goodwin Hilger until we decide what to do with them, as in the past. Some profits were propagated from previous parties to be available for the 2007 party and beyond.
19. Post cards with basic information were sent to all class members we could reach in February or March, 2006. Returned mail will be resent if correct addresses can be secured.
20. The T-shirt will feature a white on red pattern similar to the one used on the 20th class reunion T-shirt, but updated to 2007. The most recent design for the T-shirt art as of August 18, 2007 is shown below:

21. Richard York and Jarold Stone have done a fine job updating the information for our list of potential attendees from the class of 1967 and transmitting it to the rest of us via Internet. Richard York submitted an updated list with many new addresses at our 9th August 16, 2007 meeting. Good work, Richard!
22. It was decided at the 7th meeting of the Party Administration to continue the ticket price at $50.00 to cover marginal and future expenses.
23. 30 DVDs containing movies of the 10-year 1967 Class Reunion in 1977 have been prepared to be sold at $10.00 each. A short selection from this DVD will be made available as a YouTube video. Johnna Castor Burnell has the DVDs at this time, August 17, 2007. Now we have fancy printed labels and sleeves for them. They will be available at the Saturday night party and thereafter until sold out. Pictures and videos taken with cameras and camcorders will be uploaded to YouTube and other sites after the party and listed with links from this 1967 North High Reunion in 2007 party site.
24. Hurricane Lamp art wraps or transparencies have been prepared by Judy David Stanley.
25. It was decided June 7, 2007 at the 8th meeting of the party planning administration that a memorial performance by Craig Twister Steward, who was present at the meeting, will be given regarding our In Memoriam deceased members. At the the 9th we learned that Craig Steward will pick up the Minisa Park pavilion key and put up a few tables. Craig volunteered to give the memorial performance and we shook hands at the 8th meeting.
